A few Sundays ago I attended Christ the Rock community Church for service. Pastor Darrell, as usual, was on fire for God. He spent some time Sunday explaining that we should not categorize sin. He said, “admit what God says is sin, is sin.” He went on telling us we should not try to categorize sins.
I thought about it. Who is more a sinner, someone who lied once or someone who stole once? Are you asking yourself what the lie was about or what was stolen? Why? They both are sins and are categorized as sin. Think about it this way…Whether you eat an apple, pear, orange, banana, grapes, or watermelon, you still are eating a fruit. Take it further. Whether you eat an apple or drink apple juice, you are still consuming an apple, just in a different form.
There are many sins, but these the Apostle Paul mentions in Colossians 3:8: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. He continues in Colossians 3:9 which reads, “lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds.” Again these are just a few. We need to stop saying this sin isn’t as bad as others and as Pastor Darrell said, “admit what God says is sin, is sin.”
Whether you stole a pen from your job or you lied to a priest, either would keep you from heaven because they are both sin (stealing, lying).
Thank God for Jesus though. The Good News is that, “for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” (John 3:16)
Jesus came to earth blameless and was crucified and sacrificed for our sins to be forgiven. The Good News is that Jesus is Resurrected.
We need to repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. If you want eternal life in heaven with Him and you want your sins forgiven please pray the below prayer from your heart and out loud…
Dear Father I pray in the Name of Jesus, please come into my life. Forgive me of all my sins. I believe that You are the Son of God and You died on the cross and rose from the dead to make a way for me. Thank you for loving me enough to die for me on the cross so my sins can be forgiven. I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my heart. I make you my Lord and Savior. Please make me a new creature in Christ. Please write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I love you. Thank you Jesus! In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN.
Now that you have prayed that we can complete Colossians 3:9. The part I am referring to reads, “seeing that we put of the old man with his deeds.” We repented of our sins and made Jesus our Lord. Now that He is Lord of our lives we are saved; we are a new creature in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reads, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” As such we put off the old man/woman with our deeds. Have a blessed day. Be sure to check out How to Handle Temptation before you leave nb.
Amen! I have had this discussion with a few and find it disheartening to see how many people can justify some sins.
I am full on sin, but at least admit it.
I use to be there with you on the thing that sin is sin. But sometimes, those subtle little sins don’t necessarily take us out of God’s grace, but instead we just need to ask forgiveness. I don’t necessarily feel that the instant we sin, we are bound for hell. Check out this post, if you are wondering my point of view.

good article as usual!
Marty I agree, but I suppose the point is is that it is still a sin, something we need to ask forgiveness for.
