Overcome Evil

The bible says in Romans 12:21, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”  We need to always overcome evil with good.  God is good, so since we are suppose to live as He wants us to live we need to over come evil with good.  Remember Jesus is our example.  He never overcame evil with evil.  Jesus conquered death, hell, and sin because He was blameless, sinless, and died on the cross and is resurrected so our sins are forgiven and we can live in heaven with Him forever.

But what if someone does something wrong to me; doesn’t the bible say an eye for an eye?

Yes it does, but that was before Jesus was born.  Jesus said in Matthew 5:38, “If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”  The bible says in Romans 12:17, “recompense to no man evil for evil.”  The bible continues in Romans 12:19-20, “dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath:  for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay saith the Lord.  Therefore if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink:  for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.”

Let God have revenge.  I think that since He is more powerful than us He can do a better job, don’t you.  I will ask you this though, have you ever done something nice for someone who was mean to you?  That is what is meant in the bible verse, “if thine enemy hunger, feed him…”  When someone does something wrong to you they may expect you to get revenge, but they most likely will not expect you to do something nice to them.  Try it; catch people off guard.  Overcome evil with good.  I hope you all have a blessed day.
