Forgiveness Part 1

datePosted on 09:01, August 22nd, 2009 by Michael

Ever have anyone who did something to you that you just couldn’t forgive? The time to get over it and forgive that person is NOW! Jesus says in Mark 11:25, “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” Jesus is telling us that we need to forgive others. Jesus is also saying that we need to forgive others in order for us to receive forgiveness from Him. God does not love you more than the person who wronged you. He loves you and me and everyone the same. If God can forgive everything that you did and will do, why can’t you forgive someone who did something wrong to you?  Live Romans 12:21 which reads in the NIV, “do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”  Unforgiveness is evil.  Overcome evil with good, forgive.

What part are you not sure of? Jesus started to preach this in Matthew 4:17, “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is near.” In Luke 11:4 Jesus is teaching us how to pray and He said we should say, “Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. Matthew 6:12 reads this verse in a similar way…”Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” The way Jesus was speaking, was as though we have already forgiven others. That is implied there that we are to forgive others. If you still are not convinced read Matthew 18:21-35.
