Family

Family is who you should be able to go to in good times, bad times, and just because.  To me there are three types of families.  The most important is being part of God’s family.  You need to be born again to be part of God’s family and God’s family will live in heaven with Him.  The second type of family is the most common; this is your immediate and extended family that usually has the same blood line (mother, father, siblings, spouses, cousins, etc.)  You need to be born into this family or be adopted in some cases.  Close friends of yours or close friends of your family could be the third type of family.

Immediate and Extended Family

Immediate and extended family members here on earth should support each other.  They should be a safe haven with all the nonsense that goes on in today’s world.  We need to be a Christian example for the world to see.  Animosity should be avoided.  At the same time, if there are members of your family that really don’t want to be bothered with you unless it benefits them or they just can’t make time for you, just love them, pray for them, and hope they come around to realize what is going on.  Don’t be the one to close the door on them, but you do not have to keep opening yours just to get it slammed in your face.  Matthew 10:14 reads, “shake the dust off your feet.”  Jesus said this in a different context, but something else I get from that portion of the verse alone is once you have tried and were turned away just leave the place and take no part with you, not even the dust from your feet.  If there is a problem within your family it should be addressed and if there is not an effort made to correct the problem, move on and leave them alone, but continue to pray for them.

God’s Family

God wants each of us to be part of His family in heaven.  All we need to do is accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and that He died on the cross so that our sins can be forgiven.  Jesus is God’s only begotten Son so whoever does not accept Him is, I guess, you can say is slapping God in the face.  How do you think that you would feel if someone told your father that they loved him, but not you?  Or how would you feel if someone told you that they loved you, but not your children?  It would hurt and the relationship may even end at that point.  We need to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.  John 3:16 reads, “for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”

If You Want to be Part of God’s Family

If you want to become part of God’s family and live in Heaven with Jesus please pray the prayer below with sincerity:

Dear Father I pray in the Name of Jesus, please come into my life. Forgive me of all my sins. I believe that You are the Son of God and You died on the cross and rose from the dead to make a way for me.  Thank you for loving me enough to die for me on the cross so my sins can be forgiven. I accept you as my Lord and Savior.  Please come into my heart.  I make you my Lord and Savior.  I love you.  Thank you Jesus!  In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
