Fact or Fiction

Please post a comment here telling me something you believe is true, have a question about, or heard somewhere  about being a Christian or about the Bible or about a religion and I will do my best to tell you based on what the Bible says if it is Fact or Fiction and why it is Fact or Fiction…

In School I Was Taught the Theory of Evolution.

Is this Fact or Fiction?

Fiction!

The bible is very clear in Genesis 1:1 which reads, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  We did not evolve, but were created.  When scientists say that we came from monkeys, I ask “what created the monkeys?”  When they answer that, I have the same question…The questions can go on until you get to what they call the big bang theory.  That’s just it, its a THEORY!  When scientists say everything started with the big bang, my question is what caused the big bang?  In order for the theory of evolution to be true the chances are infinitely impossible.  Think about it. What are the chances that an explosion started all life and with the size of space what is the likely-hood that it evolved into what made water, life, etc. And again, what caused the explosion?  What caused whatever to explode to be there in the first place?  I don’t have faith enough to believe such stupidity.  I believe, “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  That is the fact.

I was Taught to Fast.

Is this Fact or Fiction?

Fact!

Jesus is very clear in Matthew 6:16 when He said, “and whenever you are fasting,” and again in Matthew 6:17 when He said, “but when you fast.”  It is written in Isaiah 58:3, “on the day of your fast.”  Fasting is discussed both in the Old Testament and the New Testament.  Jesus made it very clear that we are to fast, but when and from what He did not say.  Some Christian religions have designated days in which to fast, but the truth is that Jesus never said when to fast.  Now the question is when to fast and what to fast from?  When to fast is between you and God.  If that happens to be on the same day(s) as others then so be it; if it happens to be when no one else is fasting that’s great too.  When you fast you should not make it public, but it should be between you and God, only.  In Matthew 6:16-18 Jesus talks about not letting anyone know you are fasting.  Make sure that you do not make it obvious that you are fasting, but take the time to “wash your face” (Matthew 6:18) and look normal so no one notices you are fasting.  What we should fast from is also between you and God.  If you are a vegan, obviously fasting from meat is not really fasting because it isn’t a sacrifice for you.  If you hate vegetables,  fasting from them is not a sacrifice either.  You can fast from other things besides food though.  If you spend many hours a day playing computer games or video games cutting that down or out completely is something you fast from.  Take that time to spend with Jesus, whether as alone time with Him, in prayer, in reading the bible, or doing some form of work for Him (volunteering at a homeless shelter, visiting children who have no parents, etc.).  You get where I am going here.  Jesus was very direct when He said, “when you fast;” He never said ‘if.’  When you fast, what you fast from, how much you fast, and how long you fast is between you and God.

I agree, and also, if we have evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys? Shouldn’t there be no more monkeys if we did evolve from them? For people who are supposed to be so smart it is a dumb concept.

Followed your blog and I’m truly blessed with your content.

About evolution it’s indeed a theory but what beats my imagination is that those who teach and believe in it will rather hold on to it with their contrived proofs while making a mess of the revealed word of God the creator.

On fasting, you’re right on target. Yes, we’re to fast but it should be between you and your God. No man has the right to command you to fast. Decide on your fast days and don’t be pushed into it.
