Christian Denominations

I have come to figure out that many Christian denominations tend to attack one another. To me this is sad. As Christians we are supposed to be ambassadors for Christ, instead we spend time bickering, and saying who’s religion is the best.

The bible is very clear in Romans 12:4-5 which reads, “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ and everyone members one of another.”

I know that verse mostly applies to individuals, but I think that it can apply here also. Think about it. The body has different parts, why can’t Christians have different denominations? There is nothing wrong with that as long as the church you go to is a bible based, Jesus centered church that leads people to becoming saved, so they can enter into heaven.

Pastor Darrell put it this way in his sermon last Sunday, “bless every church that opens the door and blesses God.” In addition he made a reference about different denominations and the military. As many know, defending the United States, we have the following: the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Coast Guard, and the Marines. What is the purpose of each of these divisions in the U.S. Military? To protect the United States. Knowing that, look at Christian denominations the same way. What is the purpose of your denomination compared to others. Is the main purpose the same (bringing people to Jesus Christ so they can become born again)? If so why bicker over minor differences such as what priests, pastors, reverends, bible teachers, and evangelists wear, etc.

Be aware though that not all denominations are true Christian denominations.  There are some who call themselves as Christian demonstrations, which in fact are cults and are deeply deceived into thinking that they are Christians.

To recap, don’t get caught up in comparing and contrasting, attacking, fussing, etc. about different Christian denominations.  Whether you are Non-denominational, Greek Orthodox, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, or what ever I have missed, we are all different branches serving the same purpose, leading people to accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior, becoming born again and saved.  If that is not the basic premise of your denomination after you have stripped everything else away, beware that you may be part of a cult.

Answer this question, is your church more interested in you working towards the church or getting/growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ?

WAIT! Before you go, check out Church Last Sunday.

You are so true! I think religion is why so many people are turned off from God. They apply different churches religion to God. Some religion may be false and not based on God’s word. When we simply focus on God and our relationship with Him then we can focus on winning souls to Christ!

Don’t think I am against religion as a whole. I am not. I was raised Greek Orthodox and am not against religion. I am against one religion attacking another, and focusing on that, when we all should be focusing on God.
