The Seventh Day

datePosted on 07:00, February 8th, 2010 by Michael

After God finished creating everything, He rested on the Seventh Day, a.k.a. The Sabbath. Even Jesus said in Mark 2:27, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath.”

That interested me. God rested on the seventh day. The first six days He created the earth as we know it and the sun, moon, and stars.

The sabbath is another one of God’s many gifts to us. Even in today’s anti-Christian society, Sunday still manages to be the slowest day. I thank God for Sunday’s because my family and I normally after church take that day to spend together, rest, relax, etc.

I think that it is cool that God, when He created the earth created a day of the week for us to worship Him, rest, go to church, spend time with family, and just take a break from the other 6 days of working and the fast pace world. Our God truly is an awesome God.

Something else my eyes were just opened to was that God Himself set the example for us. God rested on the seventh day.

Please leave me a comment telling me your thoughts.

Man’s Beginnings

datePosted on 08:03, February 6th, 2010 by Michael

I thought that Adam and Eve were the first two people on earth. I am coming to find that may not be true. I have recently studied in Genesis and found they may have been, but they may not have. God did show me that there were people on earth besides them though, Adam was just the one whom God breathed the breath of life Read the rest of this entry »

Birds, Fish, and Sea Life

datePosted on 07:29, February 5th, 2010 by Michael

One thing that to this day I do not understand is why some Christians believe the theory of evolution.  Since we have been blogging about God creating the earth, lets look at Genesis 1:20-22.  In the New Living Bible it reads, “Then God said, ‘Let the waters swarm with fish and other life.  Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.’  So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird-each producing offspring of the same kind.  And God saw that it Read the rest of this entry »

The Sky’s Original Purpose

datePosted on 06:59, February 4th, 2010 by Michael

When I read Genesis 1:6-8 my eyes were opened to something very interesting. In the New Living Bible Genesis 1:6-8 reads, “Then God said, ‘Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.’ And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. God called the space ’sky.’ And Read the rest of this entry »

Day and Night

datePosted on 07:36, February 3rd, 2010 by Michael

Many things in life we take for granted. One of those things I just realized as I was writing this post and reading in Genesis is day and night. We think day and night were always there, but Genesis 1:3-5 reads, “Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. Then He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day’ and the darkness ‘night.’ And everything passed Read the rest of this entry »

Dinosaurs

datePosted on 07:00, February 1st, 2010 by Michael

I know on Monday you are expecting a verse of the week, but I will post that tomorrow morning.  Nest week it will be back to Mondays.  According to what I have heard and figured out about time and the bible, the earth shouldn’t be older than 15000 years. If this is true, then how can scientists say that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago and that the earth is millions of years old? This interested me and then my Uncle told me to read Genesis 1:1-2. Lets take a look at it. In the New Living Read the rest of this entry »

Joseph’s Dream

datePosted on 07:25, January 20th, 2010 by Michael

Genesis 37:5-11 reads, “Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.  He said to them, ‘Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.’  His brothers said to him, ‘Do you intend to reign over us?  Will you actually rule us?’  And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said.  Then he had another dream, and he told his brothers.  ‘Listen,’ he said, ‘I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.’  When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, ‘What is this dream you had?  Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?’  His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter Read the rest of this entry »

Job’s Firm Stance

datePosted on 07:38, January 5th, 2010 by Michael

By the time Job 19 takes place, the devil killed Job’s children, killed off his wealth and made him full of boils, etc. Job, to my knowledge doesn’t know of the conversation between God and the devil, nor what his own outcome will be. One thing that Job does, I found interesting when I Read the rest of this entry »

Awesome God

datePosted on 09:34, December 26th, 2009 by Michael

The book of Daniel is one of many places that we can see that our God is an awesome God. By Daniel 6, Darius has taken over Babylon. He issued a decree that no one could ask God or any other god for anything. They only could make a petition to the king, only. This, king Darius was convinced of doing by the people under him, advisers, etc.

Daniel, believing in God, disregarded that. He went to his window and prayed to our God. Daniel had a custom of praying three times a day near his window, so he was not doing it that day for spite, but he would offend the king before he offended God. When king Darius heard that Daniel was praying after he signed the decree, he was saddened. In Daniel 6:16 Darius orders that Daniel be thrown into the lions den. He said in the next verse that God, Daniel’s God, our God, would deliver him. Now I do not think that he believed that, but I do think that he wanted that.

Daniel went into the lion’s den. The next morning the king called out to Daniel and asked him if God was able to deliver him from the lions den. Daniel replied in Daniel 6:21, “o king, live for ever.” God had protected Daniel from the lion’s in the lion’s den the entire night.

That God, is our God. Our God, is an awesome God. He is a merciful God. He is a powerful God. He is a mighty God. He is a wonderful God. He is a miraculous God. He is a majestic God. He is our protector. He is out provider. He is the one who sent is only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, so that whosoever believes in Him shall have eternal life (John 3:16). Words can not describe how awesome our God is. We need to give Him praise and glory every day of our lives! Thank You Lord! Thank You Jesus.

Were Adam and Eve alone on Earth?

datePosted on 09:01, December 1st, 2009 by Michael

I do not believe so after reading Genesis 1 and Genesis 4.  In Genesis 1, God made man.  Genesis 4:16-17 reads, “and Cain went out from the presense of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.  And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch…”

To this point, Adam and Eve only had Cain and Abel (Genesis 4:1-2).  Genesis 4:25 reads, “and Adam knew his wife again; and she bare…Seth:  ‘for God,’ said she, ‘hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.’”  This verse implies that there were probably none between Abel and Seth.

Genesis 3:3-4 reads, “and Adam lives… and begat a son in his own likeness… and called his name Seth:  And the days of Adam after he begat Seth were 800 years and he begat sons and daughters.

I feel that God opened my eyes to see through all these verses that there were more than just Adam and Eve on earth.  Adam was who God breathed the breath of life into.  How could Cain leave his parents and get married at the time he did if Adam and his wife hadn’t born any daughters?  There must have been others around.
