Jesus’ Compassion

datePosted on 07:09, January 27th, 2010 by Michael

Last week I blogged about Jesus feeding the four thousand. Another thing that I get out of it now that I read it again is that Jesus had compassion on the people. Matthew 15:32 Jesus says, “I feel sorry for these people. They have Read the rest of this entry »

Four Thousand Fed

datePosted on 07:31, January 22nd, 2010 by Michael

Many people know the story, Jesus Feeds Five Thousand, but did you know there is another time when Jesus Feed 4000?  I didn’t until I read it in my bible quite some time ago.  This story is another of Jesus’s many miracles.  From the time line in Matthew, Jesus had performed the miracle of feeding the 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish before He fed Read the rest of this entry »

Blessed are the Peacemakers

datePosted on 11:25, January 16th, 2010 by Michael

Another of the the beatitudes is found in Matthew 5:9 which reads in the New Living Bible, “God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.”  The same verse in the King James Version reads, “Blessed are the peacemakers:  Read the rest of this entry »

The First Beatitude

datePosted on 10:26, January 15th, 2010 by Michael

Matthew 5:3-10 are The Beatitutes. Lets talk about the first on today. Matthew 5:3 reads in the New Living Bible, “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for Him.”

The point here that we as people need to realize that we need Jesus. We need our Lord, God, and Savior because without Him we are nothing. I think that Jesus said it Read the rest of this entry »

Stand Firm, Stand Tall

datePosted on 07:01, January 2nd, 2010 by Michael

Jesus said in Matthew 24:13, “but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Before saying that, Jesus is talking about wickedness and many people’s love will grow cold.  This entire section is in the NIV, headed as, “Signs of the Read the rest of this entry »

God’s Gift to Us

The following is from Luke 2 in the NIV version:

“In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to Read the rest of this entry »

Are You a Wize Builder

datePosted on 01:08, November 19th, 2009 by Michael

Luke 6:46-49 is where Jesus said, “and why call me, Lord, Lord, and do not do the things which I say?  Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you who he is like:  he is like a man which built an house and digged deep, and laid foundation on a rock:  and when the flood arose… upon that that house and could not shake it:  for it was founded on rock.  But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat…and immediately it fell.”

We need to have strong foundations.  How do we get strong foundations?  Getting into God’s word.  We need to get strongly rooted in God’s word.  Pray before you read the bible and ask God to open your eyes to what He wants you to see.  Remember to thank Him for the time He gave you to study in His word.

Since Jesus is Lord why don’t we listen to Him.  Unfortunately, I have fallen into this myself many times.  When God gives you a command, whether you read it in the bible or you hear it from Him directly, don’t hesitate.  Just do it.  He is our Lord, God, and Savior and knows what’s best for us.  Before you leave please check out How to Handle Temptation. I will not be posting anything new till Monday due to me attending St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Festival in Kendall.

Command at Gethsemane

datePosted on 01:37, November 9th, 2009 by Michael

Matthew 26:41 reads, “watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

We need to pray and ask God for the strength we need when tempted so we do not give into it. The second part of this verse shows very plainly that the flesh is weak. So pray Read the rest of this entry »

Proof Jesus is Lord

datePosted on 00:04, October 28th, 2009 by Michael

1) If Jesus was not Lord, why would the devil himself spend so much time trying to tempt Jesus in Luke 4?

The devil tried to tempt Jesus once in the wilderness for 40 days. If Jesus isn’t the Son of God, why would he spend so much time trying to temp Jesus. The second time is Read the rest of this entry »

How to Handle Temptation

datePosted on 00:00, October 22nd, 2009 by Michael

Don’t for one minute think you will not be tempted. Jesus Himself was tempted. You can read about what happened in Luke 4:1-13. Since Jesus is our example we should do what He did.
