How much do you know about the Apostles? Take a look at some facts about who Peter, James, John, and Andrew were. Peter was a fisherman. He was a Jew from the tribe of Simeon. He is the one who would deny Jesus three times once Jesus was arrested. He was one of the three Jesus had with Him during the transfiguration. Peter was the one who preached in Acts 2 and 3000 people were added to the Church. James one of the sons of Zebedee. John was the other. James was one who was a fishing with his father and brother in Matthew 4:21 and in 4:22 he left to follow Jesus. He was also one of the three that was with Jesus during the transfiguration. John is the other of the sons of Zebedee. He is James’ brother. He also was in the boat with his brother and father and left it with James and followed Jesus. He one of the three disciples who was with Jesus during the transfiguration. From what I can remember, John was the only apostle who was not martyred (besides Judas Iscariot who took his own life). Andrew was Peter’s brother. He, too was a fisherman. He, as well as Peter, was who Jesus said in Matthew 4:19, “Come and follow me and I will show you how to fish for people,” (New Living Bible). In the NIV bible it reads, “‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘ and I will make you fishers of men.” In John 6, Andrew is the one to tell Jesus he found a boy with the five loaves and two fish that Jesus would use to feed the 5000. |
